Venice Carnival 2018

Saturday, January 27th – Beginning of the Carnival!
Venetian Festival on the water – Part 1: Rio di Cannaregio 18:00 – 22:00.
The great start of the Carnival with the parade of floating platforms presenting the theme of the Circus of the early ‘900, including lights, colors, clowns and acrobats.
 
Sunday, January 28th – Venetian Feast on the water – Part 2: – Rio di Cannaregio 10:30 – 13:00. Female regatta of gondolini followed by a water procession of typical Venetian boats, all surrounded by kiosks of local food and wine specialties.
 
Everyday from February 3rd: Competition of the most beautiful costume – St. Mark’s square 12:00.
The typical masks and costumes parade… You decide the winner!

February 3rd – Festival “delle Marie” – From San Piero di Castello church to St. Mark’s – 14:30 – 16:00.
The parade of Venetian beauties celebrates the tribute that the Doge brought annually to twelve beautiful and humble Venetian maidens.
 
Sat. February 10th –Burano Carnival – 17:30 Sun. February 11th – The flight of the eagle – St. Mark’s square, 12:00.
The spectacular flight of the Eagle from the San Marco belltower to the stage. Which celebrity will be the Eagle this time?
 
Tue Feb. 13th – The “Marie” maidens award, St. Mark’s square, 16:00 The flight of the lion – St. Mark’s square 17:00.
Celebration of the winged lion of San Marco, symbol of Venice. It will rise on the bell tower on a large scenographic cloth to fly above the audience in the middle of the square.
Welcoming him on the stage of Piazza San Marco the twelve Venetian maidens, the “Marie”, to say goodbye to the Carnival.
